life:) Subscribers Collect UAH 50 thsd to Help Orphanages
For the fourth consecutive year, subscribers to cell phone operator life:) are raising funds to help homeless children through the operator’s charitable project Help Is So Easy. The project began a new stage with the launch of a designated number to which life:) subscribers could send a text message and in return receive Ukrainian pop star Irina Bilyk’s song, New Year’s Eve, free of charge. For each text message received, UAH 1 (USD 0.13) (incl. VAT), was deducted from the customer’s account. In the two months that the number was in operation, UAH 54,667 UAH (USD 7,099) was raised for local orphanages. Since 2005, the project has raised more than UAH 2.3 mln (USD 298,701). Apart from monetary support, the project seeks to change the attitude of Ukrainians toward the plight of homeless children. Ukrainian celebrities have joined life:) in this effort, helping draw the attention of the country to the problem of homeless and abandoned children.
