- Centre for CSR Development Initiates Special Working Groups to Help Companies

The Centre for CSR Development has initiated the creation of special working groups meant to develop innovative ideas, guides, training seminars and practical recommendations for companies with respect to implementing different aspects of CSR. The working groups will consist of an active group of professionals headed by a company leader and will meet regularly to develop their work on how to incorporate CSR into a company’s ongoing activities. In 2010 the Center plans to launch working groups focused on the role of HR in sustainable company development with support from JTI, dialogue with stakeholders, ethical procurement, corporate volunteering, monitoring and evaluation of CSR projects and more. The Center for CSR Development invites interested companies to take the lead in working with the proposed groups. For more information, please contact the Center at www.csr-ukraine.org.

- MTV Ukraine, UNICEF Release HIV/AIDS Prevention Movie on DVD, Internet

MTV Ukraine and UNICEF have presented a new stage in the international "Staying Alive: Ignite" HIV/AIDS prevention project, a movie entitled "Embrace Me", which was produced in Ukraine and starred local celebrities in an effort to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS among youth. The "Staying Alive: Ignite" program has been implemented in 150 countries already (including Ukraine since 2009) to raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Ukrainian TV channels Inter and MTV Ukraine first broadcasted "Embrace Me" on 1 December - World AIDS Day - in 2009. The film, produced in DVD format, will debut on the web 21 June 2010 on the MTV Ukraine website, www.mtv.ua. The DVD release also accompanied the June issue of Marie Claire in Ukraine. For those who have purchased a copy, a special raffle will be held on www.mtv.ua/ignite and the winner receiving a trip for two to Paris. Young MTV viewers are expected to warmly receive the film and its message given that many Ukrainians up to the age of 30 and either exposed to intravenous drug use or having unprotected sex make up the biggest HIV/AIDS-infection risk group in the country. For more information please contact MTV press-center’s representative Inna Makhoterska at inna.makoterska@mtv.ua

- Foxtrot, DMV of Ukraine Partner Up to Prevent Road Accidents among Children

On 22 May, the 2nd annual "Car Safety Rule Game" for teenagers took place at the Chaika Airfield just outside of Kyiv. The global "Safety for Everyone" project started in Ukraine last year with the introduction of "Car Safety Rule Game" as its showpiece. The project is being implemented by the Department for Motor Vehicles of Ukraine and Renault Ukraine, with the support of the Education and Science Ministry and the Foxtrot group of companies. The game was created as a type of competition for school teams in which participants are set in near life-like traffic conditions and must follow a set route; they must demonstrate knowledge in specific traffic situations or in virtual ones while also dealing with the likes of pedestrians, other drivers or representatives of the DMV. The top teams reached the finals of the competition, which was won by a team from Lviv, while second went to a team from Kharkiv and third to one from Cherkasy.
