- Second International ’Effective Charity’ Conference Set for Kyiv

The second international "Effective Charity" conference will take place on 28 October 2010 at the Premier Palace Hotel. The magazine Expert Ukraine has organized the conference, which is intended to be the logical continuation of the first such conference, "Charity: Altruism or Rational Egoism", and which will consider worldwide tendencies with respect to charitable activity, including its isolation in the social context with its own particular rules. Conference speakers will include leading world experts and representatives of Ukrainian charity organizations such as The Philanthropy Bridge Foundation, the directors of programs and operations for UnLtd, the representatives of advisory councils at Philanthropy UK, plus Venture Partnership board members who will share their own experiences and examples of effective charity projects. Attending the conference will be the founders and managers of Ukrainian and international companies, representatives of international and local charity foundations, and international organizations and experts. The official partners of the conference are Rinat Akhmetov’s Foundation for the Development of Ukraine and mobile phone operator Kyivstar.

- MarketPlace: A First for CSR in Ukraine

The Centre for CSR Development with the UNITER project support has announced the beginning in Ukraine of a brand new CSR MarketPlace - an innovative, open-space exhibition format for sustainable development that will unite CSR projects, including partner projects (public/business/NGOs)working groups, presentations and workshops. The launch is set for 19 November 2010 at the Premier Palace Hotel (5-7/29 Pushkinska St., Kyiv). At the CSR MarketPlace event in Ukraine participants will have a chance to present CSR partner projects either planned or already underway: in community development, environmental protection, social reporting and other areas. The best projects will be selected by a jury panel and event visitors. The result of CSR MarketPlace will be the development of a guide entitled "CSR Partnership: Directions for companies in Ukraine". Also, a Reader’s Choice will be represented, meaning a company chosen as having produced the best social report from their own CSR activities.

- SCM Supports German-Ukrainian Conference on Energy Efficiency

As part of the German-Ukrainian Energy Forum, the City of Donetsk hosted a conference to discuss possible ways of modernizing Ukrainian industry through energy-efficiency technologies. SCM and Donbass Arena were partners of the conference, which took place on 21 October at the Donbass Arena. The conference, entitled "Energy Efficient Modernization of Industry", was jointly organized by the German government, the National Agency of Ukraine for Efficient Use of Energy Resources (NAER), the Eastern Committee of German Economy and the Delegation of German Economy in Ukraine, while media partners included the Delo and Delovaya Stolitsa newspapers. Conference participants discussed plans and priorities for energy-efficient reconstruction of Ukrainian industry and some of its sectors (particularly the metals, mining and chemicals sectors), alternative energy issues, possible ways of financing modernization, the expertise of German companies, and possible prospects for cooperation.
