TURKISH BUSINESSMEN ARE INTERESTED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR IN GEORGIA

Cooperation perspectives were discussed today in Tbilisi on the Georgian-Turkish business-forum. The forum was held in terms of the visit of Kursad Tuzmen, State Minister of Turkey responsible for foreign trade, and Turkish businessmen delegation in Georgia (February 23-25).

COPPER ALLOYS AND CONCENTRATES AND FERTILIZERS WERE MAINLY EXPORTED FROM GEORGIA TO SPAIN

Georgian Statistics Department reports that export to Spain amounted to $19.6 million in 2008, which is less by 36.4% compared with 2007. Out of total volume, copper alloys and concentrates and fertilizers accounted for 79%.

UNDP PROJECTS ARE DIRECTED AT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF KAKHETI AND AJARA

Project of UN Development Program (UNDP) in Kakheti gives consideration mainly to agriculture development. Namely, as it was told the journalists at the presentation of the project, weak and strong sides of this field have been studied from 2007, strategies of regional development were defined.

AMERICAN AGRIBUSINESS EXPERTS TO ASSIST GEORGIAN FARMERS

Local office of Civil Net of Foreign Affairs (CNFA) reports that American agribusiness specialists will hold consultations to Georgian farmers in terms of Farmer to Farmers (FtF) program. The full-dress reception will be held in Tbilisi on February 26, marking launching of the program.

OTC DEAL WAS MADE ON 20% OF SAKHALKHO BANKI SHARES

Georgian Stock Exchange reports that OTC was fixed on 317.34 million shares of Sakhalkho Banki (People’s Bank). The stack, equal to 20.19% of issued shares, was sold for 2.5 million lari.

OTC WAS MADE ON JSC POTI FLOURMILL SHARES

Georgian Stock Exchange reported that OTC on JSC Poti Flourmill shares was fixed these days. Namely, 18,069 shares (over 3% of emission) were sold for 89,436 lari.

ENERGOPRO-GEORGIA PLANS TO INVEST $10M IN ORTACHALHES DURING 4 YEARS

Company EnergoPro-Georgia announced that it is going to invest $10 million in OrtachalHES (Ortachala hydroelectric station) during the next 4 years, in order to rehabilitate and increase its efficiency. To remind, the company acquired the HES (18 MW) for $25 million at the auction held on December 19, 2008.

BLITZ-SURVEY: COMPUTER MARKET

The next blitz-survey, held by Sarke, showed that desktop computers are in most demand in computer shops. The reason of it is named price, comparatively low with portable computers.

CLIENTS OF UNITED TELECOM CAN MAKE TELEPHONES AND INTERNET PAYMENTS IN COMMERCIAL BANKS

JSC United Telecom reports that besides its service-centers and local BTA Bank, company’s clients can pay bills in Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) too. Negotiations are underway with TBC Bank and VTB Bank Georgia.

Bankruptcy manager of LLC Era-98 announced auction on LLC’s property again. To remind, the first auction (December 8, 2008) on the mentioned object failed because of applications absence.

LLC HEIDELBERGCEMENT CAUCASUS IS GOING TO CONDUCT ENGINEERING-GEOLOGICAL STUDY OF LIMESTONE DEPOSIT

LLC HeidelbergCement Caucasus announced a tender on engineering-geological study of limestone deposit in Kavtiskhevi village of Kaspi district (Shida Kartli region). The matter concerns engineering-geological estimation of possible geodynamical processes on the mentioned deposit.

Georgian Environment Protection and Natural Resources Ministry reports that 20 companies have applied for the tender on shore protection works. Tender applications were opened yesterday.
