GEORGIA AND TURKMENISTAN TO DISCUSS PROSPECTS OF TRADE DEVELOPMENT
Georgian Agriculture Minister Bakur Kvezereli departed for Turkmenistan on June 23. During his 3-day visit, Kvezereli will meet his Turkmen counterpart as well as Economic and Trade Minister.

NBG ISSUED 1-DAY CREDITS OF 3.41B LARI LAST YEAR
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that 1-day credits of 3.41 billion lari were issued to commercial banks in 2008. In 2007, credits of only 90 million lari were issued since their launching in September.
MONEY SUPPLY IN TURN REDUCED BY 1.51% LAST YEAR
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that volume of money in circulation reduced by 1.51% during 2008, making up 1.29 billion lari (including cash balances of commercial banks and organizations) by the end of the year. At that, volume of banknotes reduced by 20.1 million lari, while volume of coins increased by 311,600 lari.
EAST-WEST HIGHWAY’S 3-KM SECTION WAS OPENED TODAY
Prime-Minister Nika Gilauri announced at the government’s meeting today that section of 3 km in length was opened today on East-West highway. The mentioned section passes at the territory of the village Shavshvebi (between Gori and Kareli, Shida Kartli region).
THE GOVERNMENT EXPECTS INCREASE OF “CHEAP INSURANCE” BENEFICIARIES UP TO 60,000
According to Georgian Labor, Health and Social Welfare Minister Alexander Kvitashvili, demand for policy of “Cheap Insurance” considerably increased recently. He announced today, before the governmental meeting, that number of this program’s beneficiaries already exceeds 40,000.
AGRICULTURE MINISTER IS DISSATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS OF FIGHT AGAINST LOCUSTS
Georgian Agriculture Minister Bakur Kvezereli announced at today’s government meeting that fight against Italian locusts is ineffective and additional arrangements should be carried out. He noted that locusts are widely spread in Kakheti this year (mainly, in Dedoplistskaro district and along border with Azerbaijan).

National Service for Food Safety, Veterinary and Plants Protection announced a tender on laboratory checking of foodstuff. The tender is divided into 23 lots.
OTC ACCOUNTED FOR 95.7% OF COMPANIES’ SHARES TURNOVER IN 2008
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that total cost of deals, fixed on Georgian Stock Exchange in 2008, made up 256.6 million lari. Out of which, OTC deals accounted for 246 million lari, i.e. 95.7% of total volume.

NUMBER OF PLASTIC CARDS, ISSUED BY TAOPRIVATEBANK, INCREASED BY 17.7% FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR
TaoPrivateBank reports that current number of its plastic cards makes up 170,667, increasing by 17.7% since the beginning of the year (145,000). As for the number of ATMs and service centers, it did not change from the beginning of the year.

Georgian Economic Development Ministry brought the property of LLC Orbita to the term auction for the sixth time. Starting price is reduced to 1.4 million lari.

Georgian Economic Development Ministry brought state-owned stake in JSC Progress XXI (100%) to auction again. The matter concerns 851,100 shares with nominal value of 1 lari.
POTI LLC TUIA IS AUCTIONED
Poti Regional Center of Georgian Finance Ministry’s Revenue Service brought to auction the seized property of JSC Tuia (Thuja). Starting price makes up 865,570 lari.
PROPERTY OF JSC ODISHI IS AUCTIONED
Poti Regional Center of Georgian Finance Ministry’s Revenue Service brought to auction the seized property of JSC Odishi. The starting price makes up 619,550 lari.
