- Statement by NATO Secretary General: NATO-Russia Council Summit to take place in Lisbon
I am pleased that President Medvedev has joined the other leaders of the member states of the NATO-Russia Council in accepting my invitation to participate in a NATO-Russia Council Summit, which will take place in Lisbon on November 20th.
- NATO-Russia Council meets in New York
On 22 September 2010, the NATO-Russia Council met in New York at the level of Foreign Ministers to chart the way forward in relations and cooperation between the 29 member states.
- Secretary General calls for new steps in NATO-Russia relations
The Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen, delivered a major policy speech at the Aspen Institute in Rome on Friday, 17 September 2010. The speech focused on the next steps in European security, with NATO-Russia relations as the overriding theme.
- NATO-Russian cooperation at sea
In a sign of continuing cooperation between NATO and the Russian Federation, naval commanders met earlier this week, at sea in the Gulf of Aden, to share experiences regarding counter piracy operations. Commodore Michiel Hijmans (Royal Netherlands Navy), Commander of NATO’s counter piracy Task Force, hosted the Russian Task Force Commander, Senior Captain Vladimir Kondratov, on board the Dutch flagship HNLMS De Zeven Provinciën.
- NATO and Russia discuss ways to deepen military-to-military cooperation in Moscow
Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, met in Moscow with the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Armed Forces, Army General Nikolay Makarov and his staff. The two day visit, on invitation of the Russian Federation, was mainly focused on discussing the implementation of NATO-Russia military-to-military cooperation in the framework of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC).
- Group of Experts report on NATO’s new Strategic Concept available in Russian, Ukrainian and Arabic
To facilitate worldwide readership and foster a broader discussion, we have provided an unofficial translation into Russian, Ukrainian and Arabic of the Group of Experts’ Report. The report entitled "NATO 2020: Assured Security; Dynamic Engagement" provides recommendations for the development of a new Strategic Concept for the Alliance.
