Herman VAN ROMPUY, President of the European Council, congratulates Slovenia for the outcome of the referendum

Herman Van ROMPUY, President of the European Council, congratulated the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Borut PAHOR, on the outcome of the referendum held yesterday on the ratification of the Slovenian-Croatian border arbitration agreement.

"It is an excellent outcome for Slovenia, Croatia, and for the stability of the region. This also serves as an example for the whole region that bilateral issues can and should be resolved in a European spirit", said Mr Van Rompuy during a phone call with the Prime Minister of Slovenia this morning.

Herman Van Rompuy will visit the Western Balkans at the beginning of July and later in Autumn as well.
