Monetary aggregate M1 amounted to BGN 19.882 billion, its annual growth rate being 24.6% compared to 28.9% in December. The annual growth rate of deposits with agreed maturity of up to 2 years was 39.4% compared to 35.3% in December, while the growth rate of deposits redeemable at notice up to 3 months was 27.1% compared to 26% for the preceding month. At the end of January 2008, claims on the non-government sector reached BGN 38.414 billion with an annual growth rate of 61.8% compared to 62.5% in December. The annual growth rate of claims was also influenced by net sales of loans. The annual growth rate of loans to non-financial corporations was 69.9% compared to 71.5% for the previous month. The volumes fell to record low levels and it seemed that everybody is just on hold. SOFIX managed to advance 0.96% to 1426.80 bps after the rapid jump in Bulgarian American Credit Bank (BACB, BGN 69.99, +7.68%) with close to 2k shares traded. The others to support the index were Monbat (MONBAT, BGN 27.61, +1.47%) and Chimimport (CHIM, BGN 11.20, +0.80%). BG40 closed at 407.19 bps (+0.45%) following the 0.89% up move in Odessos Shiprepair Yard (ODES) to BGN 282.50 where only 88 shares changed hands. The equally weighted BGTR30 fixed 925.45 bps (+0.21%) supported mainly by BACB and MONBAT again. The demand for vouchers seemed to be disappearing and PKB collapsed to BGN 0.4513 (-9.56%) while KZ and GKZ stayed in the BGN 43.00 – 0.4350 range. link

Representatives of Croatia, Italy, Romania, Serbia and European Commission have reached an agreement about participation of national companies in company that would be in charge of development of Pan- European oil pipeline system. Total length of pipeline will amount to 1.230 km with capacity of 60 million tons of crude oil per year. Croatian pipeline operator Janaf (JNAF-R-A) reacted to that news jumping 16,2%. In an interview, IGH (IGHR- A) CEO said that he expects further growth of construction business in Croatia due to the fact that Croatia still invests low percentage of GDP into the construction when compared to the developed nations. He said that IGH is knowledge based company that currently employees over 1000 people, with more than 70% of them holding university degree. IGH stock s oared 3,8% today. Closed-end investment fund Slavonski ZIF (SLPFR- A) was second most liquid stock today collecting HRK 5,3 million turnover. Its price increased by 4,4% and currently trades at HRK 72 offering 55,4% discount on NAV. Virovitica based sugar producer Viro (VIRO-R-A) gained 0,6%. Challenges facing this company will also be dealt by expanding product spectrum, i.e. entering liquid sugar production. The Co should gain the certificate for liquid sugar supply for all Coca Cola bottling in region. Croatia has to import all required quantity of liquid sugar for juice production (cca 40 k tones). As Company has production capacities of 40-45 k tones, a part will also be exported. BDI recover pulled up shipping companies with Atlantska plovidba (ATPL-R-A) increasing 2,4%, Uljanik plovidba (ULPL-R-A) 0,5% and Jadroplov (JDPL-R-A) 0,6%. link
