- Talking Mimes by Giorgi Kobalia

Mimes are silent by definition... but this time one of them talks about himself and his mates

- No regrets! By Kiarim Gumbatov

He has many years behind him and he does not regret decisions he has made and choices he has taken...

* Parlamento Europeo (France and Belgium)

- Please enclosed next issue of the Bulletin: “Ukraine’s Presidential Election Result” by Łukasz Adamski.

By securing a narrow majority of electoral support, Viktor Yanukovych triumphed over Yulia Tymoshenko in Ukraine’s presidential election. His contender may feel inclined to challenge the legitimacy of the vote, an effort in all probability doomed to failure. In the coming months Yanukovych is expected to oust Tymoshenko as Prime Minister and form a favouring government.

- Please find enclosed next issue of the Bulletin: “Russian Proposals at Munich Security Conference” by Robert Śmigielski.

At a conference in Munich, held between 5 and 7 February 2010, Russia upheld its proposal for a new treaty on European security, and got back to the idea of trilateral cooperation on key international issues among Russia, the EU and the US. Although the present proposals do not differ perceptibly from those already put forward, some European countries have shown growing interest in discussing them.

- Please find enclosed next issue of the Bulletin: “The Reset of US-Russian Relations: Progress and Prospects” by Robert Śmigielski and Bartosz Wiśniewski.

The reset in relations with Russia announced by the United States in February 2009 has been only moderately successful. The improvement in their mutual relations in connection with the expected strategic arms reduction treaty will foster cooperation in other areas to a limited degree. US endeavours have had little bearing on the scale of Russia’s involvement in solving the problem of Iran’s nuclear program or support for the operation in Afghanistan. The parties will also maintain their current standpoints with respect to the political status of the post-Soviet space.
