India has a super strong cultural diaspora which is the most important but impacted negatively by the powers to be!!

Emotional and sacred as it may seem, the highest creator of revenue, the State of Maharashtra, is one example of dirty politics. To give an instance, the sugarcane farmers and tillers who toil. Deepak Nagargoje, a social activist, has tried to put across the travails of these downtrodden in his book.

The State of Maharashtra is rich for the world. But these sugarcane farmers are no less than Banjaras (wanderers), as we perpetuate socially. They are destined to compromise and slog their lives out.

Sugarcane farmers and tillers from places in Marathwada and Vidharbha seek to be employed somewhere else, probably a 1000 km walk they would take to get the job. The Man of the House is worried about his 12 year old daughter or his 28 years old wife. Apart from his source of earning a livelihood, he is compelled to shoulder these responsibilities.

Rich farmers from South Maharashtra are enslaved by the imagination of they being hiers of the Great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the greatest leader and warrior of all time.

Hopeless as they are, political bigwigs like Sharad Pawar played the role of a mediator when it came to protecting the sugarcane farmers and tillers. He lobbied for the rich sugarcane factory owners.

While the book by Nagargoje highlights all the problems faced by sugarcane farmers and tillers, it’s tragic that the socio economic and personal issues have not been addressed yet.

Who pays for their lives, the security of their families, the girl child, the young wife, reduced wages, alcoholism, drug addiction and a rigid attitude, who pays for this?

Life is beyond the sickle for the sugarcane farmers and tillers and no government wants to caress the baby which has made them fortunate to make their booty.

Friends it’s not about the competing Ambani or Adani chunk. Morality lies in the farmer and the tillers. Also the scavengers in cities of Maharashtra. The State which gave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sant Tukaram, Shri Swami Samarth, Shrisant Gadge Baba, Sane Guruji, B R Ambedkar must be now asking questions who is richer!!
