In the period from January to August 2008, as compared to the same period of 2007, number of tourist arrivals increased by 2% and the number of tourist nights by 3% in all accommodation facilities in the Republic of Croatia.|Tourists realised 48 720 531 tourist nights: 10.8% by domestic and 89.2% by foreign tourists.In the period from January to August 2008, the number of domestic tourist nights increased by 1% and that of foreign tourist nights by 3%, as compared to the same period of 2007.Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights, the most of them (69.6%) were realised by tourists from Germany (20.2%), Slovenia (12.3%), Italy (10.7%), the Czech Republic (8.3%), Austria (8.0%), Poland (5.1%) and Netherlands (5.0%). In 2007 there were 10 561 buildings completed, of which 80.3% were residential and 19.7% non-residential.The floor area of completed buildings was 5 164 904 m2, which was by 15.0% more than in 2006.There were 25 609 dwellings completed with the average useful floor area of 81.0 m2.By type of works, the greatest number of dwellings (93.1%) was built as new constructions (including renewals of dwellings heavily damaged in the war etc.), 6.4% as additions (extensions) on existing buildings and 0.5% as conversions of a non-residential space into a residential one.
