Uzbekistan, Russian discuss implementation of migration agreement - courtesy of Uzbekistan Daily

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first session of Uzbek-Russian working group on realization of agreement on labour activity and protection of labour-migrants’ rights of two countries was held in Tashkent on 25 March 2010.

Uzbekistan and Russia inked intergovernmental agreement on labour activity and protection of labour-migrants’ rights of Uzbekistan and Russia on 4 July 2007. The agreement entered into force on 15 July 2009.

The working group was formed to coordinate work of Russian and Uzbek bodies, which participate in the realization of the agreement. Deputy Director of Federal Migration Service Ekatirina Egorova headed the Russian side and Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Shukhrat Saidov led the Uzbek part.

The session participants approved regulation on joint working group, regulation on information exchange, developed action plan on implementation of the agreement for 2010-2012.

The group reviewed issues relating to legal regulation of labour migration process and creating favourable conditions for free movement of labour between two states, protecting social, economic and other interests of migrants.

The sides underlined that it is necessary to open representative offices of competent bodies on migration issues in both countries.
