Ukrainian Candidate for President wants to declare war to Somalia

Ratushniak, the Mayor of Uzhgorod, the little regional capital in the West Ukraine, candidate for president, asked Yushenko to declare war to Somalia because of the frequent attacks to Ukrainian ships and sailormen by Somali pirates.

This is the last joke from the Ukrainian presidential campaign; the head of Uzhgorod administration has been, since the beginning of the run for presidency, a little bit aggressive: he hit a girl, political volunteer distributing leaflets in favour of the young candidate Yazeniuk; the result of the aggression was a broken arm for the young lady and a reporting to the police for the mayor.

I myself met once Ratushniak because of business issues: he lives in a big ex-military base near Uzhgorod, protected by armed men (probably soldiers), and, with him, live in the territory also his friends to whom he gave as a present one of the villa near the little lake of the military base.

So this declaration by Ratushniak doe not surprise us at all.

The only problem is when a presidential campaign risks to create international conflicts that Ukraine even could not afford, because of extremely weakness of the army that does not even have the possibility to buy petrol for its tanks.

So, as I said, this is the last joke of this campaign that makes us all wish the election come very quickly and without any delay.
