Slavutich, Carlsberg Group, EEF improve life for seniors in Zaporizhzhia
Slavutich, Carlsberg Group and East Europe Foundation have awarded a UAH 170 thsd grant (USD 22,000) to establish two senior centers in the eastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia. The centers will offer medical and legal consultations, as well as organize different interest-based activities for their members. The senior centers will be established at the Zaporizhzhia City Service of Social Assistance Office and the Khortytsia Regional Territorial Center for Social Services. Slavutich, Carlsberg Group and EEF will support the centers by broadening the centers’ services, remodeling the centers’ premises and purchasing new equipment for the centers. The project is a part of EEF’s Community Centers for People in Need program and is supported by the Zaporizhzhia City Service of Social Assistance.
Papyrus promotes creativity in children
On May 16, stationery company Papyrus announced a drawing contest for children entitled Ukraine - My Native Country to help children develop their creativity and inspire a love and respect for their country. All children aged 10 and under are eligible.

EBRD helps modernize local heating systems in Ivano-Frankivsk
The EBRD is lending EUR 11.7 mln (more than USD 16.2 mln) to the western Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk to improve the quality of the heating and hot water systems for this community of 200 thsd people. The loan to the city’s municipal utility company, Ivano-Frankivsk Teplokomunenergo, will finance the utility’s program to cut energy losses by reducing the consumption of gas and electricity. The modernization of the heating system will include the replacement of old boilers, the installation of biomass-fueled boilers and the introduction of gas-fueled co-generation units. The program also seeks to promote the new tariff system recently introduced in the city. The project underscores the EBRD’s continued commitment to support the municipal and environmental infrastructure sectors of Ukraine, in which the bank has invested nearly EUR 150 mln (USD 208.3 mln) to date in the water system, district heating and inter-municipal transportation.
