Ukrainian Mirror Committee Discuses International CSR Guidelines
On February 11, the Centre for CSR Development, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Scientific Research and Training Center for Standardization, Certification and Quality Problems (UkrNDNC), held a roundtable to approve a CD (committee draft) version of ISO 26 000 New International Guidelines on social responsibility. Members of the Ukrainian Mirror Committee and other participants discussed the current stage of standards development, mirror committee activities, the role and importance of standards for business and other stakeholders and their role in Ukraine. The Mirror Committee also approved a current version of international guidelines to be presented and reviewed during the next meeting of the international task force in Canada in May 2009. International experts from the ISO 26 000 development task force also addressed future steps for standard development.
P&G Named Among Most Sustainable Corporations
On January 28, P&G was named for the first time one of the Global 100: Most Sustainable Corporations in the World. This year’s list, which was announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, recognizes companies from 15 countries encompassing all sectors of the economy and evaluated on how effectively they managed environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities. As the Global 100 is meant to set apart those firms best equipped to thrive in the long-term because of their holistic approach to managing stakeholder relationships, this year for the first time, the Global 100 traced all 100 constituents to their years of origin to better understand their longevity.

Conference Cooperation for Waste Issues in Kharkiv
On April 8-9, the Independent Agency for Environmental Information (NGO EcoInform), the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" and the Ecological Alliance, Ltd. will host an international conference on Cooperation for Waste Issues in Kharkiv. The conference will support and promote best practices in waste management; present new findings, equipment and services; establish and strengthen contacts between the interested parties; and attract the attention of investors, industry managers, the business community, public groups, government officials and the media to the issue of waste management.
