This session of our Webinar series focuses on the effects of the war in Ukraine on business and trade. In the part lead by Zdenko Štefanides, Chief Economist at VUB Banka, we will discuss the effects of the war on supply chains, on the Slovak economy, on the banking sector and on the housing prices.
Zdenko Štefanides joined VUB Bank’s analytical team in January 2004 and was appointed its head in October 2004. In 2000-03 he was Vice President and Economic Analyst for Central and Eastern Europe at JP Morgan in London. JP Morgan team ranked Institutional Investor’s number one macroeconomic research firm in emerging markets in 2001-03. Prior to that, he worked in the Monetary Department of the National Bank of Slovakia. Zdenko Štefanides received his Master of Science degree in Applied Econometrics and Quantitative Analysis from Cornell University, USA, in 1997. His academic work has been published in journals such as Applied Economics and the American Journal of Agricultural Economics.
