- New Atlantic Capitalism - Hard Neccesity or Grand Illusion?
7 December 2010
Victoria Hotel
Warsaw, Królewska Str. No. 11
The financial crisis of 2008-2009 and the eurozone crisis of 2010 have shed new light on the nature of the capitalist economy. The ’fiscal stimulus vs austerity debate’, and the resulting EU-US cleavage in their reactions to the economic meltdown, have laid bare the differences between the two economic models. However, in the context of an emerging new world economic order, there is a case to be made for greater approximation of key policies.
Are we going to witness the emergence of a New Atlantic Capitalism, and what should be its foundations as regards fiscal and monetary policies? Or is the underlying dynamics in the global economy inevitably working towards a further differentiation between the capitalisms of America, Europe, Asia and "the Rest"?
demosEUROPA-Centre for European Strategy, together with Notre Europe (Paris), Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (Berlin) and the German Marshall Fund of the United Stated invite you to a conference New Atlantic Capitalism - Hard Neccesity or Grand Illusion? which would also be a launch of a new joint project - New Atlantic Capitalism.
