The Institute of International Relations and Political Science (IIRPS) of Vilnius University was established on 7th of February 1992 by the agreement between Vilnius University and the Supreme Committee for the Liberation of Lithuania. Having commenced its activities with a two-year programme in international relations, at present the Institute is an integral academic unit of Vilnius University, wherein studies in political science and scientific research are conducted.

The IIRPS organizes three-level studies - Bachelor’s (full-time and part time studies), Master’s and PhD and it also offers various training courses for civil servants. The Institute is a leading and the most prestigious institution of political science in Lithuania.

The Institute of International Relations and Political Science is a core academic unit of Vilnius University, the oldest and the largest academic institution in Lithuania.

The mission of the Institute encompasses:

Providing high quality studies’ environment and excellent learning experience;

Conducting significant and perspective research of political science.
