Yesterday, Bucharest Stock Exchange continued its positive trend with financial stocks posting the highest interest amid extended global optimism prompted by reliance on positive news like the 5.1% rise in U.S existing home sales in February as well as further considerations regarding non- performing loans back-up plan. Consequently, BET rose by 4.02%, BET-C gained 3.17% while BET-NG went up by 2.61%. BET-FI jumped 6.89% with SIF Moldova (SIF2) posting the highest increase among all SIFs, namely 13.11%, SIF Muntenia (SIF4) increased by 7.14% while SIF Oltenia hiked another 9.30%. Also, Banca Transilvania (TLV) posted an increase of 11.26%, as there are expectations that the bank will pay dividends for 2008, while BRD-GSG (BRD) marked an increase of 4.13% following the highest daily turnover of RON 5.25m. Russia will start reviewing its relations with the European Union should Moscow’s interests be ignored, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Monday. Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko said earlier in the day that Russia had been effectively excluded from talks at an international investment conference in Brussels on the modernization of the Ukrainian gas pipeline network, adding that the conference, convened by the European Commission, was limited to discussions between Ukraine and the EU.
