Raiffeisen Capital & Investment - Company News - Alumil - Q1 2009 Results (positive) - May 15, 2009
May 15, 2009, 10:35 CET | Broker’s Report | SeeNews
The aluminium profile producer, Alumil (ALU), reported its 1Q 09 results under RAS, which came above our expectations. While the top line went down 13% yoy, it was still 4% above our estimates. As it was expected, Alumil sales were helped by on-going projects started last year, which explains the 4% growth yoy in the sales of own production. On the cost side, Alumil surprised us by much lower raw material costs (down 20% yoy), as the weaker aluminium prices helped the company preserve its margins. The evolution of salaries expenses (up 7% yoy) proved management ability to control its production costs. Thus, the operating profit was up 22% yoy to RON 3.5 mn, which is more than 2x over our estimates of RON 1.8 mn. In line with our forecasts, the financial items had a small impact on the bottom line, which came in at RON 3.1 mn - up 22% yoy and 2.2x above our estimates. We consider the results as positive and will adjust our planning model accordingly.
