“Ministries clash over cluster bombs”

Verdict due in Ovčara retrial

A verdict is expected today in the case of war crimes committed at the Ovčara farm near Vukovar, in 1991. Eighteen members of the former Vukovar Territorial Defense and its units stand accused of the crime, which claimed the lives of about 200 Croatian prisoners. The retrial, which was ordered after the Serbian Supreme Court overturned the first-instance verdict in December 2006, began in March 2008.

German probe into school shooting

BSE indices closed mixed with daily turnover reaching RON 15.03m, double compared to the previuos trading session while volumes hiked to 117.48m shares with major interest on Flamingo, Rompetrol Rafinare, Vrancart whose traded volume accounted for some 64% of the traded volume. However, BET slightly declined by 0.67% while BET-C merely advanced by 0.28%. BET-FI posted a small increase following a hefty gain of 6.61% in the previous trading session, whilst BET-XT declined by 0.14%. At the same time, BET-NG, energy and related utilities index, declined 1.67% as Rompetrol Rafinare lost 5.98%, Petrom gained 1.63% while Transgaz shed by 0.47% at the same extent with Transelectrica, namely 0.58%. The SIFs were suspended from trading in the morning as the Ministry of Finance approved an ordinance drafted by the National Securities Comission that will permit to the SIFs to re
port the write-downs directly through equity, without impacting the P&L. We recall that SIF Moldova (SIF2) proposed no dividends for last year as FY08 financial statements are in compliance with the old regulation, while SIF Oltenia did not make any comment regarding FY08 potential dividends.

Verdict due in Ovčara retrial

Eighteen members of the former Vukovar Territorial Defense and its units stand accused of the crime, which claimed the lives of about 200 Croatian prisoners.
