PRIME MINISTER: THE ONLY RESULT OF POLITICAL DISORDERS WILL BE WEAKENED ECONOMIC, LOST INVESTMENTS AND JOBS

Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri announced that weakening of economy and loosing of investments and jobs will be the only result of the political disorders. He declared about it at today’s meeting with businessmen, which was held by the initiative of the International Chamber of Commerce in Georgia (ICC Georgia).

MARCH DEFLATION WAS CAUSED BY REDUCTION OF CONSUMER PRICES ON FOOD AND FUEL

Georgian Statistics Department reports that deflation of 0.4% was fixed in March. Deflation was mainly caused by reduction of consumer prices on food and fuel, statisticians note.

TEA EXPORT MADE UP $1.5M, WHILE IMPORT – $4.2M IN 2008

Georgian Statistics Department reports that tea export made up $1.5 million (2,213 t) in 2008, which is 2.8 times less compared with import. Import of tea made up $4.2 million (817,900 t).

AZERBAIJAN, GEORGIA AND TURKEY TO WORK OUT REGIONAL MODEL OF HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER NETWORK

A memorandum was signed today in Tbilisi between Azerbaijani company AzerEnergy, JSC Georgian State Electric System and Turkish Electric Energy Transmission Corporation. According to the document, it is planned to work out a regional model of high-voltage power network in terms of Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey project “Power Bridge”.

JSC ENERGOPRO GEORGIA STARTED INDIVIDUAL METERS’ INSTALLATION IN BATUMI

JSC EnergoPro Georgia announces that it started today installation of individual meters in Batumi. It is planned to install meters to 20,000 clients, investing over 10 million lari in it.

GEORGIAN RAILWAY SET 50% DISCOUNT ON CONTAINER CARGO DOMESTIC SHIPMENT

LLC Georgian Railway announces that 50% discounts are set on container cargo shipment by regional branch railways from April. The matter concerns branches in directions of Akhalkalaki, Akhaltsikhe, Chiatura, Sachkhere and Kakheti region.

TENDER TO BE ANNOUNCED ON CONSTRUCTION OF LLC GEORGIAN RAILWAY’S NEW ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING

David Jinjolia, cargo shipments director of LLC Georgian Railway, told Sarke that tender will be announced these days on construction of the new administrative building of the LLC. Construction works are planned to be finished next year.

RECONSTRUCTION OF POTI AND KUTAISI RAILWAY STATIONS TO START

LLC Georgian Railway announced tenders on reconstruction works for two stations. The both tenders are scheduled to be held on April 28.

REHABILITATION OF AVLABAR TUNNEL TO START

Tbilisi City Hall announced a tender on preparing of project documentation for rehabilitation of automobile tunnel in Avlabar (old part of Tbilisi). Project documentation should be prepared during 3 months after signing of contract.

THREE COMPANIES ARE INTERESTED WITH CARS’ INSURANCE OF STATE PROVISION AGENCY

As State Provision Agency told Sarke, 3 companies are applied to tender on insurance of Agency’s cars. Envelopes with tender applications were opened yesterday.

TENDER ON EXCISE STAMPS STORAGE AND DISTRIBUTION IS ANNOUNCED AFRESH

Georgian Finance Ministry announced again tender on excise stamps storage and distribution. Tender is scheduled to be held in the Ministry on April 28.

SAKHALKHO BANKI TO START ISSUING OF CREDITS FROM NEXT WEEK

Sakhalkho Banki (People’s Bank) will start issuing of credits from April 13, bank’s director general Giorgi Glonti announced at the briefing today. The priority on first stage will be given to clients of social category, i.e. pensioners and beneficiaries of aid, he noted.

David Jinjolia, cargo shipments director of LLC Georgian Railway, announced that decision on selling LLC Railway Telecom has not been made yet. Applications, submitted by the interested companies, are considered at this stage, Jinjolia told Sarke.

JSC United Telecom announces that internet service is provided to clients in Signagi and Tsnori (Kakheti region) already for a week. Up to 100 clients have been connected during the period.

JSC UNITED TELECOM DEMANDS PAYING OF ARREARS FROM LLC GEORGIAN CORPORATION OF CENTRAL COMMUNICATIONS

JSC United Telecom announces that it demands paying of the arrears from LLC Georgian Corporation of Central Communications, which operates in Rustavi. According to JSC, the arrears, accumulated from January 2009, makes up nearly 100,000 lari.

Poti Regional Center of Incomes Service (Tax Inspection) of Georgian Finance Ministry brought to auction the sealed property of LLC Lazi. Starting price of the property makes up 910,810 lari.

Bankruptcy manager of JSC Peikari (Weaver) brought to auction the company’s property. Starting price makes up 950,000 lari.
