THE US TO SUPPORT GEORGIA IN WINE EXPORT AND FIGHT AGAINST FALSIFICATION
Memorandum on mutual understanding between Georgia and the US, which was signed today in Georgian Agriculture Ministry, envisages support to Georgian wine export and fight against its falsification. As Georgian Agriculture Minister Bakur Kvezereli announced, this memorandum creates a basis for synchronized work with American side and for information exchange in on-line regime.
ONLY FERTILIZERS WERE EXPORTED TO BRAZIL IN 2008
Georgian Statistics Department reports that Georgian export to Brazil amounted to $8.9 million in 2008, which is less by 4.3% compared with the previous year. Fertilizers accounted for 100% of export to Brazil in 2008, as well as in 2007.
NUTS ACCOUNTED FOR ALMOST TOTAL EXPORT TO IRAQ IN 2008
According to the Georgian Statistics Department, Georgian export to Iraq made up $2.6 million in 2008, i.e. by 86.1% more compared with figures of 2007. Out of total volume, 88.5% accounted for nut export, which amounted to $2.3 million (growth – 94.1%).
CARS ACCOUNTED FOR 72% OF IMPORT FROM KUWAIT IN 2008
Georgian Statistics Department informs that import from Kuwait amounted for $2.1 million in 2008, i.e. increased 1.4 times if compared with 2007. 72% of import accounted for cars ($1.5 million, growth – 85%).
HOLDING OF CHEMICAL MEASURES AGAINST ITALIAN LOCUST WILL COST 200,000 LARI IN 2009
National Service for Food Safety, Veterinary and Plants Protection reports that nearly 200,000 lari will be spent in 2009 for holding of chemical measures against the Italian locust. The National Service says that main distribution of this plant pest in Georgia is Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions.

EXPOGEORGIA: SCALES OF WINE EXHIBITION DO NOT CHANGED THIS YEAR
The 3rd international wine and alcoholic drinks exhibition VinExpo Georgia was opened today in Tbilisi exhibition center ExpoGeorgia. As ExpoGeorgia’s project manager Nino Gamrekeli told Sarke, scales of the current year’s exhibition are the same if compared with the previous event.
THE STATE ISSUED 6M LARI CREDIT FOR BRANDY ALCOHOL PRODUCTION
Georgian Agriculture Ministry told Sarke that credits totaled to 6 million lari were issued in terms of state program on wine sector development. The sum was equally distributed between 2 companies, Guguli and Ruja.
LLC KUMISI TO START CHICKEN MEAT PRODUCTION IN A WEEK
As LLC Kumisi (poultry farm) has told Sarke, the company will start to produce chicken meat (fresh and frozen) in a week. The company rented poultry farming in Teleti for that end.
