GOVERNMENT REPRESENTED 5-POINT ECONOMY STIMULATION PLAN

Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri represented a 5-point economy stimulation plan today. The plan envisages, in particular, softening of banks’ regulation norms.

ISSUING OF T-BILLS TO START IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS

President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Giorgi Kadagidze declared that issuing of treasury bills will start in the nearest future. Currently, NBG and Finance Ministry are working on the schedule now, he noted.

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that outwore banknotes of 1.29 billion lari, accumulated in NBG depositories, were destroyed in 2008. Total weight of 181.37 million banknotes made up 128.8 t.

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that counterfeit lari banknotes, revealed and withdrawn from circulation, numbered to 2,598 in 2008 (66.8% growth compared with 2007). Out of which, 5-lari banknotes were the most popular, making 1,127 in number (nearly 3 times growth).

GWP EXTENDED PROCESS OF ARREARS RESTRUCTURING UNTIL JULY 31

Georgian Water and Power (GWP, Tbilisi water distribution company) extended process of consumed water arrears restructuring until July 31. To remind, while starting the restructuring program (May 20), the company planned to finish it on June 30.

LAND PLOTS ADJACENT TO TERRITORY OF TBILISI AIRPORT WAS ACQUIRED BY BURDOCK INVESTMENT HOLDING

Georgian Economic Development Ministry informs that Burdock Investment Holding acquired the land plots, located at the adjacent territory of Tbilisi International Airport.

To remind, the matter concerns non-agricultural land plots (36,939 square m, 32,794 square m, 18,186 square m and 1,621 square m).

LLC ELEKTROSHEDUGEBA PROPERTY WAS NOT SOLD AGAIN

Tbilisi Regional Center of Georgian Finance Ministry’s Revenue Service (Tax Inspection) told Sarke that property of LLC Elektroshedugeba (Electric Welding) was not sold again at yesterday’s auction. Starting price was maintained at 901,132 lari.
