NEGOTIATIONS ARE UNDERWAY WITH WB ON CURRENT YEAR’S FINANCING
World Bank (WB) representation in Georgia informs that negotiations on this year’s financing are being held at this stage and the final sum is not specified yet. According to the preliminary data, $70 million will be allotted at the first stage, which will be used, in particular, for construction of local (rural) roads.
COMMERCIAL BANKS’ ASSETS ARE TOTALED TO 9B LARI
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that total volume of commercial banks’assets made up 8.8 billion lari in 2008. It should be mentioned that the volume made up 7.2 billion lari in the previous year.
VOLUME OF DEPOSITS PLACED IN NATIONAL CURRENCY REDUCED, WHILE IN FOREIGN CURRENCY – INCREASED
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that volume of banking deposits, placed by the physical persons in the national currency, made up 306 million lari in 2008. This rate is reduced by 11.2% compared with the previous year (344 million lari).

SALES OF GG&MW INCREASED BY 12.6% IN 2008
Georgian Glass & Mineral Waters (GG&MW) announced that it had sold 107 million bottles of mineral waters in 2008, which is more by 12.6% compared with the previous year (94.8 million bottles). Local market accounted for 36% of sales, while export accounted for 64% in 2008.
SALES OF HYPERMARKET GOODWILL INCREASED BY 29.7% IN 2008
Hypermarket Goodwill announced that its sales made up 52.9 million lari in 2008, exceeding previous year’s same figures by 29.7%. The company does not name the volume of investments, implemented in 2008.
GOODWILL TO OPEN THREE BRANCHES IN THE NEAREST FUTURE

The agenda of today’s meeting of Georgian Communications Commission envisages suspension of the interconnection agreement of JSC United Telecom with two operators. The matter concerns LLC Infotel and LLC Maxtelcom.
