FORECAST OF STATE BUDGET REVENUES IS IMPLEMENTED BY 101%, WHILE OF EXPENSES – BY 98.9%

According to the Georgian budget-2008 implementation report, 6.6 billion lari was mobilized in the consolidated budget, which makes up 102% of the forecast. Out of which, revenues of consolidated budget amounted to 5.85 billion lari, which makes up 101% of the forecast.

BUDGET INCOMES OF JANUARY-MARCH EXCEEDED FORECAST BY 1%

According to the operational data of Georgian Finance Ministry, incomes of consolidated budget made up 1.39 billion lari in January-March. Forecast rate is exceeded by 1%.

WINEMAKING ACCOUNTED FOR THE LARGEST SHARE IN “CHEAP LOAN” PROGRAM IN 2008

According to the Georgian budget-2008 implementation report, winemaking accounted for the largest share in terms of “Cheap Loan” state program. Namely, 20.9% of the program’s total sum was issued to the winemaking.

ANTI-CRISIS PLAN IS WORKED OUT FOR TOURISM BRANCH

Georgian Tourism Association together with the Tourism and Resorts Department work at the anti-crisis plan in response of the problems appeared in Georgian tourism sector. As Siko Gegiadze, member of the Tourism Association, told Sarke, the mentioned plan will probably be ready by May.

ACTIVITY ON GEORGIAN STOCK EXCHANGE SHARPLY REDUCED IN Q1

Georgian Stock Exchange reports that turnover in the 1st quarter of 2009 made up 73,756 shares, in cash – 73,916 lari. To compare, turnover in the 1st quarter of 2008 made up 4.97 million shares, in cash – 5.83 million lari.

$6M INVESTMENTS WERE MADE IN BATUMI OIL TERMINAL IN 2008

LLC Batumi Oil Terminal reports that investments made up $6 million last year. The sum was used for technical re-equipment and ecological projects, the company notes.

REVENUES OF MAGTI INCREASED BY 13.8% IN 2008

Metromedia International Group reports that gross revenue of its Georgian subsidiary, mobile communications operator LLC Magti, made up 413.9 million lari by the state of December 31, 2008. The figure is more by 13.8% compared with the previous year.

MAGTI-FIX NETWORK COVERS 68% OF THE COUNTRY’S TERRITORY

As Zurab Gurgenidze, deputy director general in communications of mobile operator Magti, told Sarke, 68% of Georgian territory is already covered by Magti-Fix network. The company planned initially to cover 100% of the country by April 1.

PROPERTY OF JSC GEORGIAN TEA IS AUCTIONED

Bankruptcy manager of JSC Georgian Tea, Roin Migriauli, announced an auction on JSC’s property. Starting price makes up 2.4 million lari.

SEVERAL COMPANIES ARE REVEALED, WHICH WILL HOLD REHABILITATION OF ROADS OF INTERNATIONAL IMPORTANCE

Georgian Roads Department reports that several companies were revealed, which will hold rehabilitation of roads of international importance. The companies were selected through tenders.

TI GEORGIA ASSESSES QUALITY OF COTTAGES, BUILT FOR REFUGEES, AS “FAR FROM IDEAL”

According to the assessment of non-governmental organization Transparency International Georgia, “quality of cottages built for refugees is far from ideal”. As the organization notes, there are nearly 25,000 persons in the country, internally displaced after August war.
