GERMANY ALLOTTED 10M EUR TO GEORGIA

German Embassy in Georgia reported that Germany allotted 10 million EUR to Georgia for social and economic development. Two projects will be carried out in terms of the mentioned sum: rehabilitation of infrastructure in western Georgia and support of micro-financial sector.

NBG SOLD $73.99M IN FEBRUARY

Tbilisi Interbank Currency Exchange (TICEX) reports that National Bank of Georgia (NBG) sold $73.99 million in February instead of $83.23 million in January. At the same time, NBG did not buy dollars in February, while it bought $26.48 million in January.

TAX RISKS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM TO BE LAUNCHED FROM APRIL

Irakli Siradze, deputy head of Incomes Service, reported that tax risks management system will be launched from April current year. Through this system, list of payers, who should be checked, will be drawn up automatically.

TAXPAYERS’ SERVICE CENTER OPENED IN KOBULETI

Georgian Finance Ministry reports that administration building of incomes service was opened today in Kobuleti. Service center, located in the building, will serve over 5,000 taxpayers.

FIVE COMPANIES APPLIED FOR “GOLDEN LIST”

Irakli Siradze, deputy head of the Incomes Service of Georgian Finance Ministry, announced that 5 applications were made on entering the so-called “golden list”. Discussion of three of them is practically finished, he noted.

MINERAL WATERS ACCOUNTED FOR MAIN PART OF GEORGIAN EXPORT TO LITHUANIA IN 2008

Georgian Statistics Department reports that Georgian export to Lithuania accounted for $8.8 million in 2008, which is more by 45.1% compared with the rates of 2007. Out of which, mineral waters export accounted for 61%, making up $5.4 million (44.4% growth).

WINES AND NUTS ACCOUNTED FOR THE LARGEST SHARE OF GEORGIAN EXPORT TO LATVIA IN 2008

Georgian Statistics Department reports that Georgian export to Latvia accounted for $5.4 million in 2008, exceeding previous year’s figures by 20.1%. Wines and nuts accounted for the greatest share of export – 65%.

TBILISI NOTARIES PUBLIC TURN TO ELECTRONIC RECORDS MANAGEMENT

Georgian Ministry of Justice reports that special software Electronic Register of Notarial Activities was created by the initiative of the Ministry and the Chamber of Notaries Public. The software, which provides electronic records management, was launched in Tbilisi today.

BLITZ-SURVEY: UKRAINE – CORE MARKET FOR GEORGIAN WINE

According to the next blitz-survey, held by Sarke, Ukraine was the main market for Georgian wines in 2008. Eight large wine companies were surveyed: GWS, Teliani Veli, Tbilgvino (Tbilisi Wine), Alaverdi, Askaneli Dzmebi (Brothers Askaneli), Bagrationi-1882, Vaziani and Telavi Wine Cellar.

AWORD CAPITAL DELAYED CONSTRUCTION OF HOSPITAL IN TBILISI FOR AN UNCERTAIN PERIOD

Company Aword Capital told Sarke that construction of the hospital in Digomi district of Tbilisi is delayed for an uncertain period. The company explained it by financial crisis.

REHABILITATION WORKS TO BE HELD ON CHITAKHEVHES

JSC Chitakhevi-Borjomi announced a tender on project works for ChitakhevHES (Chitakhevi hydroelectric station) rehabilitation. Tender envelopes will be open on March 27.

AUCTION WAS ANNOUNCED ON 8-7-2 NUMERATION RESOURCE

Georgian Communications Commission announced auction on license for 8-7-2 numeration resource use. Starting cost of the license makes up 25,000 lari.

AUCTION ON JSC MEDEA PROPERTY FAILED AGAIN

Bankruptcy manager of JSC Medea told Sarke that auction on the property, left unsold after the first auction, failed again. The bankruptcy manager said that auction, which had to be held these days, failed because of applications absence.

4 COMPANIES ARE INTERESTED WITH REHABILITATION OF WATER SUPPLY IN KAZBEGI

Gamgeoba (local administration) of Kazbegi told Sarke that 4 companies are applied for rehabilitation of the headwork and water supply system in this district of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region. Envelops with tender applications were opened on March 20.

32 COMPANIES ARE INTERESTED WITH REHABILITATION OF GORI AND KASPI WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS

As UNDP (UN Development Program) told Sarke, 32 Georgian companies applied for tender on rehabilitation works on water supply systems of Gori and Kaspi, announced by UNDP. Envelops with applications were opened on March 20.

NATIONAL SCIENTIFIC FUND ANNOUNCED GRANT CONTEST

Georgian Science and Education Ministry reported that Georgian National Scientific Fund announced the fourth grant contest for financing of research projects. Annual budget of the eligible scientific project is limited by 50,000 lari.
