CONSTRUCTION OF GREATEST PART OF HOUSES FOR IDPS TO BE FINISHED BY NOVEMBER

As Georgian Prime Minister Lado Gurgenidze announced today, construction of greatest part of houses for internally displaced persons (IDPs) after the Russian aggression will be finished by November 2008.

According to the Prime Minister, construction of houses for about 7,000 families from Akhalgori district as well as Kodori and Liakhvi gorges will cost 120 million lari.

REMITTANCES, TRANSFERRED TO GEORGIA IN SEPTEMBER, EXCEEDED PREVIOUS MONTH’S FIGURES BY 16.7%

As National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports, volume of sums transmitted through different electronic remittances’ systems (Western Union, Anelik, MoneyGram, etc.) made up $86.1 million in September. These figures exceed previous months same figures by 16.7%.

NUMBER OF PLASTIC CARDS, ISSUED BY GEORGIAN BANKS, INCREASED BY 57.9% FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that number of plastic cards, emitted by Georgian banks, made up 3.2 million by the state of October 1, 2008. This rate exceeds figures of previous year’s same period by 57.9%.

OIL-PRODUCTS CONSUMERS, PRODUCERS AND IMPORTERS UNION: THE BUDGET LOOSES 18-20M LARI ANNUALLY BECAUSE OF SHADOW OIL SALES BY EN ROUTE TRANSPORT

The budget looses 18-20 million lari annually because of shadow sales of oil-products, brought in by en route transport means, said chairman of Oil-Products Consumers, Producers and Importers Union Vano Mtvralashvili at today’s briefing.

According to the Union’s estimations, nearly 4,000-5,000 t of fuel comes to the country this way, which makes up 15% of diesel consumption in Georgia.

182,882 LARI WAS MOBILIZED FROM MINING LICENSES

Auction on mining licenses, held today in Georgian Economic Development Ministry, brought 182,882 lari in the budget.

In total, 14 objects in Akhalkalaki, Chiatura, Chkhorotsku, Gori, Ozurgeti, Signagi, Terjola, Tsalenjikha and Tskaltubo were auctioned.
