United Transport Administration announces that Marine Department has a new head – Badri Partenadze. Partenadze was the deputy of the Supreme Council (parliament) of Ajara autonomous republic.

TRADE TURNOVER WITH KAZAKHSTAN REDUCED IN 2008
Georgian Statistics Department reports that Georgian export to Kazakhstan amounted to $22 million in 2008, which is less by 35.7% compared with the same rates of 2007. Out of total volume, export of ethyl alcohol made up $5.8 million, which is less by 26% compared with 2007; export of mineral waters – $4.4 million (100% growth).
ETHYL ALCOHOL AND WINE ACCOUNTED FOR MAJOR SHARE OF EXPORT TO BELARUS IN 2008
Georgian Statistics Department reports that Georgian export to Belarus in 2008 amounted to $11.2 million, which was 1.3 times more compared with 2007. Out of total, ethyl alcohol and wine accounted for over 65%.
FLIGHTS’ ACCESS MECHANISM TO BE SIMPLIFIED FOR CARRIERS, REGISTERED IN GEORGIA
By the initiative of the United Transport Administration, it is planned to cancel the issuance of licenses to the air carriers, registered in Georgia and to introduce a procedure of carrier assigning instead of it. Currently, Administration and representatives of the air companies work at the amendments, which should be made in the law “On Licenses and Permissions”.

Majority of experts, surveyed by Sarke, positively assess participation of the state in program of affordable insurance promotion (the state will cover 3.35 lari out of the policy’s cost of 5 lari). However, part of experts does not exclude some problems.

Chief banker of EBRD Irakli Mekvabishvili says that Georgian banking sector is current priority of EBRD. At this stage, EBRD has signed 72 investment projects, total cost of which makes up $850 million.

IN TERMS OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECT BANK REPUBLIC WILL GET $5M FROM EBRD
EBRD allotted $5 million credit to bank Republic for financing energy efficiency projects in Georgia. Duration of the credit makes up 5 years.
JSC UNITED TELECOM WILL TURN CLIENTS OF 22, 23, 25, 29 INDICES TO DIGITAL STATIONS
JSC United Telecom reports that it will turn clients of 22, 23, 25, 29 indices to the digital stations in March. The same process will be held in April for the clients of 93 and 98 indices.
NEW PARKING SYSTEM IN TBILISI TO BE LAUNCHED IN A MONTH
As LLC CT Park told Sarke, new system of parking fee payment is planned to be totally launched in Tbilisi nearly in a month. Three forms of payment are envisaged: through parking meters, mobile phones and special scratch-cards.

Georgian Finance Ministry reports that Gori Tax Inspection announced an auction on the seized property of LLC Kartuli Produkti (Georgian Product). Total starting price of the property makes up 9.93 million lari.
UNDP ANNOUNCED A TENDER ON REHABILITATION OF WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM IN KASPI AND GORI
UN Development Program (UNDP) announced a tender on rehabilitation of water supply system in Gori and Kaspi (Shida Kartli region). Works are held in terms of early rehabilitation and stable development project.

CHAIRMAN OF GEORGIAN TRADE UNION PARTICIPATES IN ILO CONFERENCE
Irakli Petriashvili, chairman of Georgian Trade Union, will address the conference, organized by the International Labor Organization, which will be held on March 2-3 in Brussels. The topic of the conference concerns development of civil and social dialogue in countries of the Black Sea basin and Eastern Partnership (the EU initiative).
