GERMAN AID MADE UP 14M EUR AFTER AUGUST WAR
German embassy in Georgia announced that Germany allotted 14 million EUR in total as humanitarian aid and for support for revival of Georgia after the August war. The mentioned sum was mainly used for improvement of living conditions of population, suffered during the August events, and for restoration of the damaged infrastructure, the embassy notes.
EU OFFERS GEORGIA SIGNING OF NEW AGREEMENT IN THE AVIATION FIELD
United Transport Administration informs that European Commissions come out with the initiative of holding negotiations about signing of the new agreement in the aviation field. Namely, European Commissions issued on January 30 a directive on signing of the comprehensive aviation agreement with Georgia.

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that by the state of December 31, 2008, 15 banks operate on the local market with participation of the foreign capital. This figure made up 12 at the beginning of 2008.
NEARLY 72% OF CREDITS IS ISSUED IN FOREIGN CURRENCY
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that volume of credits, issued by the commercial banks in 2008, made up 6.06 billion lari. The figure exceeds showing of the previous year (4.6 billion lari) by 32%.
DEPOSITS, PLACED BY LEGAL ENTITIES IN FOREIGN CURRENCY, ACCOUNT FOR 63% OF TOTAL
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that volume of deposits, placed by legal entities in foreign currency, made up 1.2 billion lari in 2008, i.e. 63% of the total volume. This figure is more by 19% compared with the year 2007 (1.03 billion lari).

BTA BANK ANNOUNCED PROFIT OF 1.21M LARI IN 2008
Georgian BTA Bank reports that net profit made up 1.21 million lari by the state of December 2008. It should be mentioned that net profit of the bank amounted to
4.4 million lari in 2007.
TURNOVER OF POTI PORT INCREASED BY 4.5% IN 2008
Corporation Poti Sea Port informs that the port processed 8.08 million t of cargo in 2008. This rate exceeds previous year’s same figures by 4.5% (7.7 million t).

COAL-CONCENTRATING PLANT IN TKIBULI TO BE LAUNCHED IN APRIL
Georgian Industrial Group (GIG) informs that current plans envisage launching of coal-concentrating plant in Tkibuli from April 2009, instead of initially announced February 2009. Productivity of the plant will make up 150 t per hour.
LLC TOBE EXPLAINS DELAY IN SELLING ITS SHARE WITH THE GLOBAL CRISIS
Director general of LLC Tobe (concrete and ferroconcrete producer) Tengiz Chikhradze told Sarke that selling of LLC’s share was delayed because of the global crisis. This process was planned to be finished by the end of 2008.
