PHYSICAL CONTROL OF IMPORT, SUBJECT TO VETERINARY AND PHYTOSANITARY CONTROL, TO START FROM JULY 1
Georgian Finance Ministry announced that monitoring of imported goods, subject to veterinary and phytosanitary control, will start from July 1. Monitoring envisages spot-checking of goods and taking samples for laboratory testing.
BAN ON POTATO IMPORT REMOVED FROM JUNE 1
Ban on potato import in Georgia has been removed since June 1, according to governmental order of May 28. To remind, Georgia has imposed ban on potato import for 3 months (from April 14 to July 14), due to so-called potato moth revealed in February in Bolnisi (Kvemo Kartli region).
GREEN ALTERNATIVE CALLS PREMATURE AUCTION ON LONG-TERM FORESTRY LICENSE
Environmental non-governmental organization (NGO) Green Alternative calls premature auction on forestry long-term use license, announced by Economic Development Ministry on June 11. Green Alternative notes that Environment Protection and Natural Resources Ministry has set up special commission on May 13, which will complete working on new license terms in near future.
TWO EXHIBITIONS WERE OPENED IN TBILISI EXHIBITION CENTER EXPOGEORGIA
Two exhibitions were opened today in exhibition center ExpoGeorgia in Tbilisi: the 9th international exhibition of medical technologies, laboratory equipment, stomatology, pharmaceutics and optics Caucasus Healthcare 2009 and the 4th international exhibition of cosmetics and aesthetic medicine Tbilisi Beauty and Aesthetic Medicine 2009. Over 80 companies, mainly foreign ones, take part in both exhibitions.

PRESIDENT OF CAUCASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK ELDAR ISMAILOV: BANK’S TBILISI BRANCH IS ORIENTED AT INTEGRATION OF AZERBAIJAN AND GEORGIA
President of Azerbaijani Caucasian Development Bank Eldar Ismailov notes that Tbilisi branch of the bank, which should celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, aims to assist economic integration of Azerbaijan and Georgia. These two countries are “kernel of the Caucasian region”, while Caucasus is associated for us with Georgia first of all, Ismailov told Sarke.
HALYK BANK GEORGIA SUSPENDED ISSUING OF CREDITS
Ucha Dolaberidze, marketing and PR manager of Halyk Bank Georgia, told Sarke that the bank suspended issuing of all types of credits from the current month. The reason of it Dolaberidze named inner policy of the bank.

KOR Standard Bank announced that new fixed deposit, New Year Deposit, is available for clients. Period of New Year Deposit is 1 year, minimum payment makes up 100 units (GEL, USD or EUR).
SAKHALKHO BANKI SOLD 10% STAKE IN GMC GROUP
Sakhalkho Banki (Peoples Bank) informs on selling 10% stake in restaurants network GMC Group (out of total pack of 30%, owned by the bank). The shares were acquired by GMC Holding for 2.5 million lari.
USIP-GEORGIA INCREASES NUMBER OF PARTNER BANKS
Paata Apridonidze, financial manager of LLC United System of Instant Payments – Georgia (USIP-Georgia), has told Sarke that Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) will join list of partner banks from the next week. The agreement will be signed with Basisbank until the end of month as well, he noted.
