VOLUME OF REMITTANCES FROM GEORGIA REDUCED IN OCTOBER-DECEMBER
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports that volume of sums, transferred from Georgia through various systems (Western Union, Anelik, Money Gram, etc.) in October-December 2008, made up $19.6 million. This figure is 1.7 times less compared with the same period of 2007 ($34.1 million).
CONSTRUCTION OF 12 FARMERS’ HOUSES IS PLANNED FOR 2009
Georgian Agriculture Ministry reports that construction of 12 farmers’ houses in various regions of the country is planned for this year.
10 farmers’ houses are functioning for the present in Bolnisi, Gori, Gurjaani, Kaspi, Lagodekhi, Marneuli, Terjola and Tskaltubo, servicing more than 34,000 entities.
GERMANY FUNDED GEORGIA’S PARTICIPATION IN AGRARIAN EXHIBITION WITH 43,000 EUR
Georgian Agriculture Ministry reports that German Society for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) provided 43,000 EUR for Georgia’s participation in international agricultural exhibition. With these aims, financing of the Ministry made up 47,000 lari.
THE STATE BUDGET ALLOTTED 1M LARI FOR REHABILITATION WORKS IN KAKHETI FOREST
Georgian Environment Protection and Natural Resources Ministry announces that 1 million lari was allotted from the state budget for rehabilitation of 150-210 ha of the forest massif in Lagodekhi, Kakheti region. The project is implemented through the support of World Wildlife Fund (WWF), in terms of 1-year program.

69% OF SAKHALKHO BANKI WAS SOLD AT 12.51M LARI
Georgian Stock Exchange reports that 1.08 billion shares of Sakhalkho Banki (People’s Bank) were sold at 12.51 million lari on January 15. It should be mentioned that this information was published at the site of the Stock Exchange only today.
BANK REPUBLIC PLANS TO INCREASE CHARTERED CAPITAL

Georgian Stock Exchange reports that deals of 9.28 million lari were made in 2008 on banks’ shares, registered on the Stock Exchange. This volume makes up over 87% of the total volume of deals (10.58 million lari), made on the Stock Exchange in 2008.

NGOS PROTEST GROWTH OF SALARIES TO EMPLOYEES OF LOCAL ADMINISTRATIONS
Human Rights Center announces that nongovernmental organizations (NGO), operating in Kakheti region, negatively assess increase of salaries to the officials.
According to the Center’s press release, by the President’s order, heads of local administrations have a right to get 2,360-lari salaries per month.
