Georgian Communications Commission announced that 5 applications were submitted on the vacant post of the fifth member of the Commission. During a month, the President should select 3 candidacies out of the mentioned 5 and submit them to the Parliament.

GAS STORAGE TO BE BUILT IN SAGAREJO DISTRICT
Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri announced that underground gas storage will be built on Ninotsminda gas field territory (Sagarejo district, Kakheti region). The decision was made these days.

Financial Supervision Agency reports that insurance companies attracted premium of 270.84 million lari in 2008. This volume is 1.3 times more, if compared with the year 2007.
REMITTANCES VOLUME REDUCED IN JANUARY-MARCH 2009 COMPARED WITH THE SAME PERIOD OF 2008
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that sums, transferred to Georgia in January-March 2009 through various electronic remittances’ systems (Western Union, Anelik, MoneyGram, etc.), totaled to $164.2 million. The volume is less by 19.6% compared with the same period of 2008.

CAUCASUS ONLINE TO LAUNCH BACKUP LINE TO EUROPE IN MAY
As Gia Adeishvili, deputy director general of Caucasus Online, told Sarke, the company plans to launch a new reserve line in Europe in May. Adeishvili said that the decision was caused by instable operation of current line, passing from Varna (Bulgaria) via Romania.
ROMPETROL GEORGIA OFFERS ENGINE-PROTECTING FUEL
RomPetrol Georgia announced that the company launched selling of engine-protecting fuel Efix on the Georgian market. The company’s director general Dan Voiku announced at today’s presentation that the fuel, produced through German and French technologies, reduces fouling in cylinders by 43% and fuel consumption by 3%.
COMPANY IOLI GIVES A PRIORITY TO OPENING OF BRAND-NAME SHOPS
Ilia Kantaria, director general of company Ioli, told Sarke that company’s priority at this stage is opening of brand-name shops. The company plans to open two such shops in Tbilisi in the next 1-2 months.
LLC GEORGIA-ECO TO START PRODUCING YOGHURT IN CUPS
Marketing manager of LLC Georgia-Eco (dairy producer) Shalva Alavidze told Sarke that the company plans to launch production of yoghurt in cups in May. Volume of investments will make up to 300,000 lari, he said.
