FBC-GEORGIA HOSTS FRENCH DELEGATION ON SECURITY ISSUES

A meeting with French delegation on security issues was held yesterday in head office of bank Republic, where Georgian investment climate and economic condition were discussed. Press release of FBC-Georgia (French Business Council in Georgia), organizer of the visit, reads that the guests were acquainted with Georgian financial institutions and transaction security issues, legislative system, accounting and fiscal policy of the country.

TBILISI TO HOST INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC CONFERENCE IN LATE JUNE

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that international conference on the modern role of central banks in small open economies is scheduled for June 26-27 in Tbilisi. Conference scopes affect of global crisis on small and open economies and taken measures, as well as general role of central banks in overcoming economic downturn, their plans and priorities.

PAYING BILLS OF UNITED TELECOM WILL BE AVAILABLE IN KOR STANDARD BANK AS WELL

JSC United Telecom reports that paying telephone and internet bills will be possible in KOR Standard Bank from June 15. To remind, besides United Telecom’s service centers and BTA Bank Georgia, clients of the company can pay bills in Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) and TBC Bank since March.

LLC CHÂTEAU MUKHRANI SOLD 1,500 BOTTLES OF WINE SINCE FEBRUARY

Teimuraz Gegeshidze, head of marketing in wine producing company LLC Château Mukhrani, told Sarke that the company has started selling from February. Gegeshidze noted that 1,500 bottles were sold in total, out of which 80% were exported to France.

JSC ALIONI FAILED TO BE SOLD AGAIN

Tbilisi Regional Center of Georgian Finance Ministry’s Revenue Service (tax inspection) has informed Sarke that second auction on JSC Alioni’s property failed yesterday. Total starting price was unchanged, making the same 2.06 million lari.

A NEW GROUP OF PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEERS TO VISIT GEORGIA IN JUNE

The US Embassy in Georgia reports that a new group of Peace Corps volunteers will visit Georgia in June. The embassy notes that it is the first group, which will arrive to Georgia after suspension of Peace Corps program in August 2008.
