MOTORCARS ACCOUNTED FOR 28% OF EXPORT TO ARMENIA IN 2008
Georgian Statistics Department reports that export from Georgia to Armenia amounted to $124.8 million in 2008, exceeding previous year’s same figures by 12.7%. Motorcars accounted for the biggest share, making up 28% of the total volume of export.
ELECTRIC ENERGY ACCOUNTED FOR BIGGEST SHARE OF EXPORT FROM GEORGIA TO RUSSIA IN 2008
Georgian Statistics Department reports that Georgian export to Russia made up $28.5 million in 2008, which is less by 37% compared with the same rates of 2007. Out of which, export of electric energy accounted for the biggest share – 39% of the total volume.
ELECTRIC ENERGY SUPPLY, TRANSMISSION AND DISPATCHING WILL AGAIN BE TAXED WITH ZERO VAT
Fiscal committee of the Georgian Parliament discussed today the extending of taxation of electric energy supply, transmission and dispatching with zero rate of VAT. Corresponding amendments should be made in Tax Code.
CAUCASUS PROTECTED AREAS FUND TO HAND OVER EQUIPMENT WORTH 60,000 EUR TO ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION MINISTRY
Georgian Environment Protection and Natural Resources Ministry announces that the Caucasus Protected Areas Fund (CPAF) will provide 60,000 EUR aid to the Ministry. Namely, two cars, two fire-fighting equipment complexes, fireproof clothes and other special equipment will be handed over for rehabilitation works in forests, damaged during the Russian aggression.

TEN COMPANIES PARTICIPATE IN STATE INSURANCE PROGRAM FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS
Georgian Education and Science Ministry announces that 10 companies take part in state program on insurance service for teachers, administrative and technical personnel of public schools and other institutions in 2009. In terms of the mentioned program, the budge-2009 envisaged 19.5 million lari for 80,000 beneficiaries.
TENDER IS ANNOUNCED ON CARS INSURANCE OF ILIA CHAVCHAVADZE STATE UNIVERSITY
State Procurements Agency announced a tender on insurance of cars of Ilia Chavchavadze Tbilisi State University. As the Agency told Sarke, the service envisages provision of one-year (2009) insurance of 11 cars.
TBC BANK CONFIRMS SELLING OF SHARE TO EBRD
TBC Bank confirmed to Sarke the plans on selling a part of shares to European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). However, the bank did not specify details, noting only that 45% of bank’s shares would be divided among 4 foreign investors.

TBC Bank plans to hold a draw Million Drawing-2 for its depositors again. To remind, last year the bank held a draw with main prize of 1 million lari.
AUCTION ON LICENSE FOR BORJOMI MINERAL WATER TO BE ANNOUNCED THESE DAYS
Georgian Economic Development Ministry reported that auction on license for Borjomi mineral water deposit use will be announced in 2-3 days. The starting price of the license was discussed at the governemnt meeting, held on February 10, the Ministry noted.
JSC GEORGIAN STEEL TO RESUME PRODUCTION OF STEEL IN FOUR MONTHS
JSC Georgian Steel (Rustavi Metallurgic Plant) will restore production of steel in 4 months, company’s director for projects’ development Mikheil Janikashvili told Sarke. It should be noted that the JSC stopped its production in the last 6 months and reduced nearly 20-25% of the staff.
