PUBLIC REGISTER IMPLEMENTED 14,629 REGISTRATIONS IN TBILISI IN MARCH

National Agency of Public Register of Georgian Ministry of Justice announced that it implemented 14,629 registrations in Tbilisi in March instead of 17,869 in the same period of 2008. Number of registrations countrywide made up 34,373 (according to data of 55 territorial registration services of the Agency).

EBRD TO ALLOT $20M TO CARTU IN MARCH-APRIL

Bank Cartu announces that agreement was signed on March 30, envisaging allotment by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) credit line of $10 million to the bank. Credit line is envisaged for 5 years and will be used for financing of small and middle-sized business.

INDIVIDUAL METERS INSTALLATION TO START IN KAKHETI FROM JULY

As JSC Kakheti Energy Distribution told Sarke, installation of individual meters in Kakheti will start probably from July. The process will last for 5 years, the company noted.

LLC ENGINEERING RESEARCHES TO HOLD ENGINEERING-GEOLOGICAL STUDY OF LLC HEIDELBERGCEMENT CAUCASUS LIMESTONE DEPOSIT

As LLC HeidelbergCement Caucasus told Sarke, LLC Engineering Researches will hold engineering-geological study of limestone deposit in Kavtiskhevi (Kaspi district of Shida Kartli region). The company was selected on the basis of the tender.

FULL ACCESS TO GEANT2 NET TO START IN A FEW DAYS

Ramaz Kvatadze, executive director of Georgian Research and Education Networking Association (GRENA), told Sarke that full access to European scientific and educational computer network GEANT2 will be possible in a few days. Test access is being implemented for already a week, he noted.

ISSUING OF BIOMETRIC PASSPORTS IN GEORGIA TO START FROM THE END OF 2009

Civil Register Agency of Georgian Ministry of Justice announces that issuing of biometric passports in Georgia will start from the end of 2009. Press-service of the Agency could not name the sums, which is necessary for launching of this system.
