Foreign Affairs Ministers to discuss key transatlantic issues
Allied Foreign Ministers will gather for informal talks at NATO’s Headquarters in Brussels on 5 March to discuss a broad range of issues in the run-up to the Strasbourg/Kehl Summit early April. Topics on the agenda include the situation in Afghanistan, NATO-Russia relations and the Declaration on Alliance Security.

Hungary to commemorate NATO accession
The Government of Hungary will host an international conference, “Ten Years in NATO: A Decade of Security”, on 12 March 2009 in the Upper Chamber of the Hungarian Parliament. The conference commemorates the anniversary of the accession of Hungary to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in 1999, along with Poland and the Czech Republic.

Conference focuses on reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan
Representatives from the 26 Provincial Reconstruction Teams in Afghanistan attended the quarterly conference held at the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters in Kabul on 25-26 February. They discussed a wide range of topics including border security, disaster assistance, counter-narcotics and best practices.

Combat readiness exercises for NATO Response Force
NATO Forces participate in two closely linked training exercises, Exercise Loyal Mariner and Exercise Loyal Ledger from 2 - 13 March 2009. The aim is to test their combat readiness for NATO’s high readiness military force, the NATO Response Force.
