At their Summit meeting in Lisbon, NATO leaders adopted a new Strategic Concept that will serve as the Alliance’s roadmap for the next ten years and that reconfirms the commitment to defend one another against attack as the bedrock of Euro-Atlantic security
- Ukrainian ship joins NATO’s counter-terrorism surge in eastern Mediterranean
This week, Ukraine sent a warship to the Mediterranean to assist NATO’s Operation Active Endeavour, which aims to detect and deter terrorist activity in the region. The ship’s crew will participate in surge operations, helping to monitor civilian shipping, collecting and analysing information on suspicious vessels and accompanying ships carrying important cargo if required.
- Ukraine remains reliable NATO partner
In the afternoon of 10 June, Allied defence ministers met with their Ukrainian counterpart, Minister Mykhailo Yezhel, at a session of the NATO-Ukraine Commission. They discussed key aspects of their partnership, including Ukraine’s support for NATO-led operations, its Annual National Programme and defence reforms.
- Ukrainian military delegation looks to NATO centre for modernization ideas
A group of Ukrainian military officials visited NATO’s Joint Multinational Readiness Centre, looking for ideas to help modernize their country’s own armed forces. Six members of the Ukrainian Land Forces spent two days talking with military training planners and touring training facilities. Ukraine participates in NATO’s Partnership for Peace Planning and Review Process.
- Group of Experts report on NATO’s new Strategic Concept available in Russian, Ukrainian and Arabic
To facilitate worldwide readership and foster a broader discussion, we have provided an unofficial translation into Russian, Ukrainian and Arabic of the Group of Experts’ Report. The report entitled "NATO 2020: Assured Security; Dynamic Engagement" provides recommendations for the development of a new Strategic Concept for the Alliance. - Chiefs of Defence discuss operations, transformation, resources
The Chiefs of Defence of Ukraine and NATO member countries met at NATO Headquarters on 5 May 2010. The meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission was one of a two-day series of meetings involving NATO’s top military staff and high-level military representatives from member and partner countries.
