Moscow Museum of Modern Art presents «Unavoidable and Unnecessary» – an immense personal retrospective exhibition of works by Servey Shutov. During more than 30 years of his creative career, Sergey Shutov (born in 1955, Potsdam) – painter, sculptor, graphic artist, photographer and author of installations – became famous in all areas of mainstream and underground art of Soviet times and today’s Russia. Successful collaboration at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, an the Museum of Oriental Art and at the Moscow Zoo, lecturing at the Moscow Planetarium, work for radio stations and "Popular mechanics" band, designing the issues of "Ptiuch" magazine and participation in the cult "Assa" movie, membership in the Academy of Various Arts, teaching at the Moscow Art Laboratory of New Media, presentation of Russia at the Vienne Biennale and nomination for the Federal Prize – even this impressive list doesn’t include all the episodes of Shutov’s bright creative biography.
