European Common Foreign and Security Policy in the Lisbon Institutional Setting
21 October 2010 - Warsaw School of Economics - Building C, Al. Niepodległości 128
One year after the Lisbon Treaty its most important innovation - European External Action Service - is about to begin its work. This is high time to address some of the most burning issues raised by this new institution.
demosEUROPA - Centre for European Strategy, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Chair of International Law and European Union Law, Kozminski University and the Chair of European Law at the Warsaw School of Economics jointly invite you to a debate on "European Common Foreign and Security Policy in the Lisbon Institutional Setting"
The first part of the conference would concentrate on the role of the EU Presidency in forming the EU foreign and security policy under the Lisbon Treaty. Special emphasis will be put on interactions between institutional actors - Presidency, HR/VP and European Parliament.
In the second part, we will analyze the emerging of EEAS and its interrelationship with national diplomatic services. It will focus on the following questions: How can smooth cooperation be achieved? What should be done to make EU foreign policy "more coherent and efficient"? What is the optimal mix between national and European diplomatic actions?
