Ukraine will only fulfill its EEC commitments by 2018

Ukraine will be unable to fulfill its main commitment to the Agreement on accession to the European Energy Community—to reform the energy sector in line with EU environmental standards—earlier than 2018. At the same time, joining the EEC will be the main factor spurring reform of the country’s energy sector.

The threats and opportunities that undertaking the Agreement was discussed at a conference entitled “Integrating Environmental and Energy Policy: The challenges of membership in the European Energy Community".
