Dmitry Medvedev sent his greetings to participants of VIII International Forum Gas of Russia 2010 taking place in Moscow.

The message reads, in part:

“Russia holds the largest reserves of natural gas in the world and is actively involved in its production, processing and export. The sustained growth of the national economy and the social services, as well as the welfare of people in many countries around the world, all depend on the effective performance of the Russian gas industry.

Today, natural gas consumption is growing rapidly. It is vital to join the efforts of suppliers, transit countries and consumers of the Russian ‘blue fuel’ to secure its transportation routes, improve the legal regulation of hydrocarbon exports, introduce new energy-saving technologies and reduce environmental risks.

I hope that the ideas and proposals put forward at the forum will serve to strengthen energy security and promote international dialogue in this sphere.”
