Welcome to Enlargement Newsletter. This newsletter provides an overview of where European Union enlargement has got to, who’s doing what in the EU and in the candidate countries, and how the main challenges are being met.

The European Commission adopted its 2010 Enlargement Package on 9 November.
* Croatia must make final push on competition and judiciary
Croatia, which has now provisionally closed 25 out of 35 chapters, continues to meet the political criteria for membership, the Commission concluded.
* Turkey: constitutional reform creates conditions for progress
The constitutional reforms approved in the 12 September referendum have opened the door to progress in a number of areas, particularly the judiciary and fundamental rights, the Commission’s report on Turkey noted.
* Fisheries and finance key challenges for Iceland
Iceland received the green light from the EU Council to begin accession negotiations in July this year.
