An EU-Central Asia Ministerial meeting was held in Brussels on 28 April.
The meeting was mainly dedicated to a discussion of the implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia, on which a stock-taking report is being prepared for the European Council in June, and regional as well as international issues.
The Foreign Minister of Spain, Mr Miguel Angel Moratinos, chaired the meeting on behalf of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Countries of Central Asia were represented respectively by Foreign Minister Saudabayev of Kazakhstan, Deputy Foreign Minister Islamov of Uzbekistan, the Turkmen Ambassador to the EU, Mr Mommadov, the Tajik Ambassador at Large, Mr Sharipov, and the Acting Foreign Minister of the Provisional Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, with whom the EU delegation held an informal meeting to discuss the action plan by the Provisional Government on re-establishing constitutional order and strengthening the rule of law and human rights in the country.
The EU-Central Asia meeting concluded with an informal working lunch with all participants.
