Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), had a meeting today with Nebojša RADMANOVIĆ, the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mr. SOLANA and Mr. RADMANOVIĆ had a frank but friendly discussion about the latest developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its potential to make progress towards the EU. They agreed that Bosnia and Herzegovina had a place in the EU and that 2009 would be a crucial year for it to prove its responsibility and commitments concerning its EU aspirations and ability to deliver.
Mr. SOLANA reiterated that he expected some important decisions to be taken by the political leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina to allow the necessary reforms and progress on the objectives and conditions set by the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), as well as on the EU agenda. He urged BiH politicians to unify their efforts in that direction and with a
view to make possible the transition from the Office of the High Representative (OHR) to the EU Special Representative (EUSR). He stressed that the EU stands ready to assist and support the endeavours of BiH.
