Chinese and Belarus military officials meet in Beijing

17:16 GMT, December 8, 2010 Air Force Gen. Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), met with Maj. Gen. Anisimov, assistant to the defense minister of Belarus, in Beijing on the morning of December 7.

Ma Xiaotian noted that there exists profound traditional friendship between China and Belarus and between the peoples of the two countries. Since the beginning of the new century, the bilateral relations between the two countries have got new development. The Chinese side highly appreciates the support given to China by the Belarus side on issues concerning Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang and human rights. As an important part of the bilateral relations, the relations between the two militaries have been maintaining a momentum of stable development. The Chinese military attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with the Belarus military and it hopes that the two sides can make joint efforts to upgrade the pragmatic exchanges and cooperation to a higher level.

Anisimov said that the Belarus side regards China as a reliable friend and a good partner and has always considered developing friendly cooperative ties with China as one of its priorities in developing foreign relations. The Belarus side is satisfied with the achievements obtained in developing the relations between the two militaries in recent years and is grateful to the support and assistance given to the army building of Belarus all along by China. Belarus is willing to continue to boost the constant in-depth development of the pragmatic cooperation in all fields between the two militaries.
