On June 1, 2010, in the center of Grozny (Chechnya), in the public garden of the journalists, the picket of women whose relatives have been missing since 2000 took place. The action was timed to the International Day of the Protection of Children. Regional organization “Mothers’ anxiety” organized the picket.

More than 50 women came to the public garden with the photos of their sons, brothers and fathers. In some families several people have disappeared. The gathered tried to draw attention to the problem of the missing in the republic. People had banners which said: “How long should we, sick mothers, wait for our sons?”, “Where is my father?”, etc.

Many banners contained requests for federal and republic leadership.

Photos from the picket see at Memorial’s web-site: www.memo.ru/2010/06/02/0206101.htm.
