- Il Mese di BalcaniCooperazione

Inclusione sociale, protezione dei diritti umani, relazioni tra migrazione e sviluppo sono i temi affrontati questo mese, tanto attraverso analisi di macro-politiche a livello nazionale ed europeo quanto attraverso esperienze locali che vedono il coinvolgimento di soggetti della cooperazione italiana in paesi quale la Macedonia, il Kosovo, la Bosnia Erzegovina e l’Albania.

Le aree di intervento esplorate comprendono la tutela di soggetti deboli quali minori e disabili, la costruzione di spazi di espressione al femminile e il sostegno all’attivismo per i diritti umani, nonché del diritto alla vita degli attivisti stessi.

Armonizzare le politiche dell’Unione europea in materia di migrazione e sviluppo, cercando un’ampia collaborazione con i paesi terzi, è inoltre il tema di uno stralcio del report ’European Social Watch’ del 2009. Un panorama che pone molte e nuove sfide le quali, per quanto riguarda l’Italia dopo i tagli al settore della cooperazione previsti in Finanziaria, si annunciano difficili da affrontare.

Challenges facing the European Union

demosEUROPA - Centre for European Strategy and the Embassy of Estonia in Poland cordially invite you to a speech by Urmas Paet, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia. In the midst of the most serious economic crisis since the Great Depression, the EU is facing more than just economic problems. Post-Lisbon Strategy, low carbon economy, and the emerging of a new international order - all of these will have to be confronted in the years to come. Estonia, renowned for its innovativeness, can put forward several solutions for these burning issues.

Urmas Paet was born in 1974, making him the youngest foreign minister in Europe. He was also Minister of Culture from 2003 to 2005, and is a member of Estonian Reform Party - the liberals.

Minister Paet will take questions from the audience after his speech, which will be delivered in English.

14th January 2009, 12:00 at Central Election Commission of Ukraine the Women’s Movement FEMEN will carry out a street protest «SEXit Poll» to show their vision of the current presidential election campaign 2010 in Ukraine.

Bright make-up, short skirts and the candidates for president posters – 18 prostitutes will come out to the road nearby Central Election Commission to carry out their independent and fair exit poll. Each of them will be trying to get as many votes as possible offering herself to the passing by car drivers. The voters will be asked to show their interest to one or the other candidate in money equivalent.

- The Examination of the appeal of HRC Memorial postponed until January 21

The examination of the appeals in the civil case Ramzan Kadyrov against HRC Memorial and Oleg Orlov were set to take place in Moscow city court on January 12, 2010. Plaintiffs and defendants, as well, lodged appeals to reverse the decision reached by the Tverskoy district court on October 6, 2009.

The representative of the plaintiff A. Krasnenkov introduced a written response to the defendants’ appeal.

The representatives of the defendants asked 15 minutes to look through the text of the response because Krasnenkov had not shown it to the defendants before. However, the court decided to postpone the examination of the appeals until January 21, assigning more than a week for studying the response. At the same time the court recommended that the defendants prepared a written response to the plaintiff’s appeal.

The examination of the appeals will take place in Moscow city court on January 21, 10 a.m.

The address of the Moscow city court: Bogorodsky val, 8, Moscow (metro station Preobrazhenskaya ploshad’). The examination will take place in room 348.
