Please tell us in a few rows the story of your life, like where were you born, where did you spend your childhood, which schools did you attend to?

Born in England during the 50’s and being the only boy in a family of 7 girls, with a strict Father and even stricter schooling life was not easy. Never enough money for food or heating, so hunger and cold were something I got used to. This situation gave me a strong desire to learn as much as possible because knowledge is the path to greater things.

Describe in a few word your business industry and also describe your company and it’s activity.

My business industry is Commercial and Industrial Water Treatment. This includes Rain water, well water and drinking water. My Company employs at the moment 4 people and two external agents. Part of our activity is problem solving and water treatment installations such as iron and calcium removal systems. Our two main activities are Cooling Tower treatment and Legionella eradication in Hotels, Hospitals, and food processing.

What would be the key to your success and what are the steps you took in achieving this?

I think the key to success is determination. Determined to be better. Determined to know more and determined to achieve the goals I set for myself. To achieve this education and hard work are primary. Evening school to learn Management, Insurance law and Accountancy. During the day, four different jobs to earn enough money.

Everyone has some basic principles which they use to guide themselves in business. What are your principles?

Honesty, Never tell your potential customer something that is not true. Punctuality. Always be on time for an appointment. Service. Stay in touch with your customer. If he calls because of a problem, visit him within 24 hours to help solve the problem.

Which was the biggest business deal you ever made?

Thanks to the service I gave one customer several years ago, the same customer will be signing a contract at the end of October this year for installation of our systems into all of his buildings for the next two years. Value of the contract is in excess of 1M euro.

Which was your biggest failure in business?

My biggest failure was to regularly check on the progress and administration of the invoicing manager. This eventually cost me several thousand euro’s.

What are you business plans in the future? Will you extending your activity in other business industries as well?

My future business plans are for expansion into the surrounding EU countries. My ultimate goal would be having an office in every EU country. To do this we are already looking for other entrepreneurs, companies and even agents who are prepared to start something new and exiting.

In your own opinion which would be the successful business industries in the future and why?

Definitely the most successful companies in future years will be the ‘Green’ Energy and Water companies. To reduce our carbon footprint we cannot rely on gas or oil. Other means of Energy such as solar or wind will be the future big businesses. Water is becoming more and more scarce. Only companies that can offer water saving systems, such as my own company, will profit.

What is your take on the consultancy business and what do you know about the consultancy market in Romania?

Before entering into any new market it is necessary to be aware of the rules and regulations of that market. A ‘competent’ local consultancy company therefore should be the ideal partner to assist and advise. As with most European countries, different organizations have different working methods. I am familiar with consultants in the Benelux, but not with Romanian, although I have a feeling that BV Business Center is going to be a major player in Romania in the short future. Certainly they will be my preferred choice.

Could you offer please a few advices for the future to the young Romanian entrepreneurs and also to the Romanian companies?

My advice to young Romanian entrepreneurs would be: - Always be on the look-out for something new, - Don’t try to solve a problem… solve the cause of the problem, - Be honest and straight to the point, - If it is worth taking a risk, then it is worth risking it.

For Romanian Companies.

Water and Energy are two major company costs. My company can help reduce those costs. Prefer European suppliers against American or Asian. Companies earn more profit from employees that are well paid. So pay them what they are worth.

Some final words.

Everything that is really great and inspiring is created by the individual who can labor in freedom. (Albert Einstein).
